REJECTING LETTER

Dear Mr. Michael Foxx,
I am pleased and honoured by the invitation to participate in the conference organized by your society, which is to be held in SSN, on 20 October 2009.
I must apologize for the slight delay in replying to your letter. I have just returned from USA after a visit and did not have your address at hand. I did write however to Mr. John who is the event manager in which I was supposed to present my speech.
I very much regret to say that it will not be possible for me to make any major trip in the autumn owing to bad health The only thing I can do is send a few comments to Mr. John for him to use as he sees fit. Needless to emphasize that - were my health better - I should be delighted to attend your conference, which promises to be a great event. Thank you once more for honouring me with your invitation.
With every good wish for the success of the conference
Yours sincerely

Sir,
Sub: Problems and suitable solutions to control air pollution
Air pollution is becoming an uncontrollable menace day by day. On behalf of many chennaites I would like to list below the various problems caused by air pollution and also solutions to discuss the same.
First and foremost the amount of poisonous gases released by various vehicles has increased the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere. Due to this people suffer from various health problems like asthma ,etc Next the poisonous industrial effluents released from factories .has caused further pollution in air as well as in water. This has led to an increase in levels of CO and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Next burning of wastes and plastics in public places has also found to release undesirable amount of poisonous gases like sulphur dioxide in the amosphere.Next , one of the most important problems faced by us is generally swept under the carpet.Urbanisation and industrialization has led to deforestation. As a result the amount of carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere is not getting reduced and hence people keep suffering from various health problems. Coming to solutions awareness has to be created on the benefits of using public transport and carpooling. This will reduce the gases released from the exhaust of cars and other vehicles. Next, burning of wastes in public places has to be completely stopped.. Next afforestation has to be encouraged. Smoking in public places has to be prohibited. Last but not the least government has to play a very important role to make it mandatory for all vehicles to undergo emission tests.
I hope this will serve as an eye opener for the government as well as the common people on the whole to release the growing menaces of air pollution and also take steps to control it.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
Santosh

INSTRUCTION
INSTRUCTIONS
Here are the instructions to control air pollution:
1. Use public transport system and encourage using bicycles for short distances.
2. Recycle paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans.
3. Connect your outdoor lights to a timer or use solar lighting.
4. Avoid using toxic chemicals at home as they reduce harmful vapors into the air.
5. Keep the environment clean. Plant trees in locations around your home to provide shade in the summer, but to allow light in the winter.
6. Encourage car-pooling as one can reduce the amount of petrol/diesel needed to run a vehicle. This helps to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released from cars.
7. In the summertime, fill gas tank during cooler evening hours to cut down on evaporation. Avoid spilling gas and don't "top off" the tank. Replace gas tank cap tightly.
8. Stop burning rubbish in open air as it leads to gases like nitrogen and carbon dioxide to be released in open air.
